Sweet
and Sour Meatballs
preheat oven to 175ºc
meatballs:
400g of mince
1 cup of breadcrumbs
1 onion (finely diced)
¼ teaspoon of mixed herbs
½ teaspoon of salt
1 egg (lightly beaten)
2 Tablespoons of flour
2 Tablespoons of oil
Mix all ingredients except flour and oil.
Make into small balls and roll in flour.
Cook in oil in frying pan.
sauce:
1 tin of pineapple pieces
2 Tablespoons of sugar
½ Tablespoon of soya sauce
2 Tablespoons of cornflour
2 Tablespoons of malt vinegar
1 teaspoon of beef stock powder
In a small saucepan put 1½ cups of liquid (the juice from
the tin
of pineapple plus water to make up 1½ cups).
Mix in the beef stock.
In a jug, mix the sugar, soya sauce and vinegar.
Heat all the liquids together.
In a cup, mix the cornflour with water, and use to thicken the sauce.
Place the meatballs in a casserole dish, drop in the pineapple
pieces
and pour over the sauce. Cook in oven for 30-45 minutes
